Barbara M. Buckley, DPM

Dr. Buckley was born and raised one of five children in Toledo, Ohio. While in high school her family relocated to Sarasota, Florida where she attended Cardinal Mooney High School. After graduating high school she was offered a scholarship for academics and women’s rowing to attend the University of Central Florida in Orlando. At the University of Central Florida she enrolled in pre-medicine and her studies included English and Biomedical Sciences. From a very young age she knew she would pursue a career in medicine having been raised in a home where her father practiced as a physician specializing in Emergency Medicine and her mother practiced as a Registered Nurse. After shadowing numerous physicians during her undergraduate studies, she set her heart and sights on a career in Podiatric Medicine.

Upon graduation with honors from University of Central Florida in 2005, she was accepted and offered an academic scholarship to attend Barry University Podiatric Medical School in Miami Shores, Florida. While in Podiatric Medical School: she presided as president of American Association of Women Podiatrists, was actively involved in charity work with her church and travelled with the podiatric women’s basketball team.

Dr. Buckley graduated in 2010 from Barry University of Podiatric Medicine at which time she succeeded in obtaining her Podiatric residency of choice at Mercy Hospital in Miami. During her three year residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, she travelled with the Yucatan Crippled Children Medical Missions, where she treated and operated the underserved in Mexico. Throughout her residency she was fortunate to receive state of the art training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, as well as specialized training in External fixation of the foot and ankle. She has treated athletes at all levels including college and professional. She is a current member of both the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Florida Podiatric Medical Association.

Her interests outside of medicine include cooking, reading, kayaking, swimming and most of all spending her free time with her husband and their two young children.
